Any type of personal change starts with setting goals. A good goal, written down and clearly articulated, can form the basis for extraordinary results. One dictionary defines the word "goal" as "the state of affairs that a plan is intended to achieve and that (when achieved) terminates behavior intended to achieve it". We use a "wheel" analogy to illustrate the four basic steps that can help you achieve performance results. Starting on the left of our wheel, and working clockwise, the steps are: 1. Set goals, 2. Create an Action Plan, 3. Deliver or perform, and 4. Evaluate your results. This circuit is pretty typical of any process designed to promote a change in behavior or activity. The place where most of us get stuck is in the "delivery" stage. We just don't get it done. The RAN ONE firm (see www.ranone.com) calls this phenomenon "FTI," or, "Failure To Implement!" A good business coach can help you avoid "FTI," and keep you on track towards achieving your goals. Athletes and entertainers seem to know this: to perform at a higher rate, you get a personal trainer or an acting coach. Business people are starting to figure this out, too: to ratchet up your performance, you need to get some professional assistance. Using our model, there are several resources outside the wheel that are the kind of services and support that we bring to bear on your personal development program. We custom-design a Personal Development program to your particular needs. For peer groups, we facilitate a process where each individual in the group is working on their own plan, and sharing results and accountability with the rest of the group. When you are ready to achieve a new "state of affairs," a coach can help you define your course of action, hold you accountable for delivery, and help you evaluate and adjust along the way. At Praxis Coaching, we specialize in taking people through our unique personal development system, with accountability for personal results at the center of your success!
